More torches

Sources of light

Today,we learned about light and where it comes from.We spoke about the sun and how we get light when the sun is not shining.We talked about electric light,candles and torches.The children went into the darkest part of the classroom with and without a headtorch to see what the difference was.

Dancing raisins

We did an experiment with raisins one day.We put some in 7up and some in water.The ones in water sank to the bottom.The ones in 7up sank at first ,but then started dancing up and down.We learned that the fizz in the 7up made them rise up to the top again.It was fun!

More spooky creatures..

Halloween witches' walk

Our classroom was invaded by some very spooky characters recently -witches and pirates and superheroes.Luckily,they all got on very well ,went on a walk together and had a party.Phew!

Our favourite colour

The children voted for their favourite colour recently and red won!

Clothes for summer and winter

We talked about the clothes we wear in hot weather and cold weather.The children could choose between a swimsuit ,a cap and shades or a coat,hat and scarf depending on what picture we showed them.If they chose the wrong one,we had to stop them going out the door.One boy wanted to wear beachclothes when we showed the picture with frost and snow ,but luckily his classmates stopped him!

Playing around with colour

The children did wonderful paintings recently experimenting with different colours with paintbrushes and sponges.

Big and small

The children had fun sorting classroom objects into sets of big and small ..

Hansel and Gretel

We heard the story Hansel and Gretel at Halloween.The children did freezeframes of moments from the story and others had to guess what they were doing.They did very clever images- pebbles showing Hansel and Gretel how to get home,Hansel trapped in a cage etc..

Tasting

We tasted sweet,sour,salty and bitter food one day.Some people liked all kinds of tastes,others made very funny faces when they tasted sour and bitter!We learned that we have taste buds in our tongues and they send messages to our brains saying what taste different food has and whether we like it or now.

Puddles

We have had some spectacular puddles outside our classroom recently.We ve seen reflections of the sky,the trees and ourselves in them!

More Bugman pictures

Bug Man Visit

We had a visit from a Bug Man a few weeks back.We saw (and held!) a giant snail,a snake,tarantula and lizard.We looked at a scorpion in a box.It was very exciting..

Autumn Nature Walk

Today,we went for a nature walk in the sunshine.We saw leaves of beautiful autumn shades like red and golden and brown.We collected sycamore,ash and oak leaves and we found some conkers under a horsechestnut tree

Back in our class, we sorted the leaves into sets of sycamore,ash and oak and drew pictures of what we saw.It was fun!
