St Patrick and shamrocks

We heard the story of Saint Patrick. The children did freezeframes of parts of the story - when he got kidnapped , when he minded the sheep and when he travelled around Ireland telling people about God.They all got to wear simple little shamrocks for Saint Patrick s day too!

Accordions

Miss Hynes called in to our class to talk about her accordion to us.She showed us how it works and let the children try it out.She played us a jig, a reel and a hornpipe to show us what they were like.It was great!

More nature walk pictures

Spring Nature walk

We took advantage of the lovely mild weather recently to go on a nature walk.We saw all sorts of buds on the trees -red,black and brown. They all felt different too -some sharp, some soft, some sticky. We saw flowers about to bloom and heard birds singing-great to see the spring is here at last!

Rice krispie buns

We did a lesson on melting ,where we melted solid chocolate and turned it into liquid. We didn t want to waste the chocolate so we mixed it together with some rice krispies and had a rice krispie bun party!

A funny class story

The children came up with very funny ideas about how our play could have gone wrong ,after we performed in Inverin. We put the ideas together into a class story called "The Play that went wrong".It is very funny-the waves come to life and flood the stage, the mobile phones go off and won´t stop ringing, the different characters come out at the wrong time and confuse everybody and at one point, the lights go out and everybody bumps into each other!

Pancake Tuesday

We had delicious pancakes for Pancake Tuesday!

More kites and straws

Watching things being blown

We went out with plastic bag kites one windy day and watched what happened! Then we got straws and tried to move different objects by blowing through them.Sometimes we huffed and puffed with all our might but the objects were just too heavy!

Fun in the snow

The snow may have been cold , but the children enjoyed it to the full - building snowmen, throwing snowballs, leaving bread out for the birds......We took some snow inside and did a simple experiment with it.We left some by the radiator and some in the toilet and watched what happened...the snow by the radiator melted much quicker.

posting letters to Santa

We sent letters to Santa at Christmas time and got very excited posting them!

Magnets

We had fun exploring our classroom with magnets!

Moon music

We played a moon music game where one child blew bubbles and the others had to use their instruments to make sounds that lasted as long as the bubbles. We also played an astronaut game where the children had to move slowly like astronauts and had to pretend to examine rocks and craters.
