Two very nice teachers were with us the last ten days.They did very interesting lessons with us and played some fun games.They showed us how to make puppets from paper -we made frogs , dogs,rabbits and crocodiles!

Muirsin the puppet
A lady called Judith did a drama lesson with us recently and brought along Muirsin the puppet.He danced for us and then tried to say hello to us by jumping on us!
Shadow show
Macnas visited our class recently and put on a shadow show for us!It was lovely-the story of a little boy who travels by boat and meets a mermaid and other creatures.The children got to try out being shadow show puppeteers after!
Planting beanstalks
We read Jack and the beanstalk recently and decided to try and grow our own! We learned that plants need soil,water and sun in order to grow.We also learned that they need bigger pots than the ones we put them in!The roots started growing out the bottom of the small pots so we changed them over to bigger pots.When they´re tall enough,we will send them home so that giants can climb down into the childrens´gardens!
The African village we made
The children made huts and then made clay objects to put outside.They used their imaginations and made some lovely things - mats , bowls called calabashes, baobab trees,African drums, pots for grinding flour,boats and even snakes!
Heavy and light
We made sets of heavy and light and compared how some of the things felt when lifted.
Learning about Africa
We saw a wonderful cartoon called Kirikou recently,about a little boy who saves his village from a witch.We saw how people in rural parts of Africa sometimes carry water long distances and grind flour by hand.Then we looked at pictures of life in Kenya.We learned about baobab trees and the different ways water can be carried.
Little Red Riding Hood
We read this story recently and had a visit from Little Red Riding Hood herself to our class.She left her basket after her when she ran away and we had fun trying on her red scraf and looking at what was in the basket.The wolf turned up too!
Easter egg hunt
We went on an easter egg hunt outside the prefab - we found eggs under stones,under cars,beside trees!
Things that change in water
We put different things into water to see what was waterproof,what was absorbent and to see if they looked different or felt different.
